Phoenix Darling

I daresay you have the likeness of Phoenix darling

Courageous enough to rise time and time again

from the ashes of your smoldering heart

and still be brave enough to love

Burn It All

Burn it all he tossed the words over his shoulder

while he walked out the door without looking back

leaving her in a mess of cold, dark, shattered ruins

Pictures

Poems

Letters

Heartbeats

Touches

Kisses

Love

She threw it all into a pile like his words

lit the match and let it fall

Burn it all

and all it burned, flames licked the air

turning what was once real into nothing but

smoke and ash

gone forever was whatever love she thought they shared

and without stopping she too stepped into the fire

feeling its warmth surround her, melting away the pain

the sorrow

the sadness

And when she emerged she was rekindled

dripping from head to toe

in the strength she was going

to use to rebuild herself

not better but stronger

a Phoenix who rises again

Playing With Fire

She played too close to fire

and she danced when it singed her skirt

she inhaled the smoke and tilted her head back and

she laughed when the flames traveled up her legs

spinning around and around until her world was all

yellows

reds

oranges

and when she stopped spinning there was nothing left

so she stepped out of the ash remains

smiled at her naked self

her rebirth

her rejuvenation
