You were always heartless
always say that organ was worthless
Could never understand
how I could follow mine so blindly

so maybe that's why
when you left
you took everything but that
left my heart
broken and bleeding in my chest
I'm sure you laughed
at how easy it was
to render me lifeless

but look at me now
bandaged and bruised
but breathing
my heart beating
fully whole again

and I see now
that all those other organs would have left me
I couldn't make them stay
anymore than I could make you

my heart
was I ever really needed
